Even though it’s already 2018, I thought it would be fun to share some of the highlights from my Taiwan trip last year. I went at the end of November with my parents, my brother, and Simon.
We stayed at Hey Bear Capsule Hotel in Taipei for the first night. It was all our first times trying a capsule hotel and it was actually pretty nice. The only downside was that my mom didn’t warn Simon and I to bring towels so we weren’t prepared. The bathrooms were pretty clean but definitely not spotless.
The doors to the different gender-separated bathrooms.
First milk tea + boba in Taiwan. By the end of the trip, my milk tea count was at 8 drinks. But to be honest, I didn’t think any of the milk teas were amazing. Well, besides Mcdonald’s which was amazing disgusting. Definitely don’t recommend.
Some views from Sun Moon Lake
Taking the tram at Sun Moon Lake
Getting to Alishan/Zhushan was a huge ordeal (almost thought we were about to fall victim to criminals…) and we didn’t even get to see the famous sunrise. This picture was maybe ~30 minutes before the sun was supposed to rise.
We stayed on Hotel Royal, Chihpen on night 6. They had a free archery class that Simon, my brother, and I took. It was also my first time trying archery. I enjoyed it but was obviously terrible at it. All the photos of me are on Simon’s phone so here’s one of him.
On day 7, we went to Shifen to light the floating laterns. I was expecting the small ones but setting the large one was really cool.
Another highlight from the trip was all the gorgeous nature views we saw, like the one I posted in my first post. Oh, and all the street food of course.
We did A LOT more than just what I’ve mentioned but I didn’t want to overload this post with pictures. Maybe I’ll post more in the future since I don’t have any big trips planned for this year.
Have you been to Taiwan? If so, what was your favorite city/area?
