Happy (belated) New Year! Hope you had a good 2018. And if you didn’t, hope 2019 is 10x better!

I was going to start the year off with a post about my goals for 2019, mainly focusing on how I wanted to feel and what I wanted to experience. But dang, it’s be a rough first year.

I started the year with having chipped my dental crown while eating sushi (of all things!). Then I find out that my dentist, who I’ve seen for as long as I can remember and happens to be my ex-cousin-in-law, no longer takes my insurance so I have to find a new one.

I also got a really bad cough during the first week in January. I had terrible sleep during that time. It was so bad that I ended getting prescription cough syrup from my doctor. A week or so later, I started getting a weird pain in my shoulder. Went back to the dr’s and it turns out that it was an issue with my neck because I had switched to a higher pillow to help with sleeping during my cough. It’s been a week since I’ve switched back to my regular pillow but my neck/shoulder is still uncomfortable for most of the day.

And now today, the very last day of January, ended on an even worst note. We were notified yesterday of a last minute meeting for this meeting so I was already suspicious. Turns out we were right to be suspicious. The company decided to restructure and eliminated a bunch of positions. It seemed like the team that I was on got out mostly unscathed until the afternoon when my work wife was let go. None of us were really expecting it. *sigh*

But like coworker said today: ‘Tomorrow will be better. It has to be.”

So I’m just going to pop open a bottle of wine while I cook dinner and focus on the good things like:

  • Cat Town’s volunteer appreciation event is tomorrow so I get to see fellow volunteers that I haven’t seen in awhile
  • My foster cat has a potential adopter visiting her on Saturday!
  • I still have a job and don’t have to worry about paying for our wedding for now
  • I’m in California so don’t have to deal with the polar vortex

How was everyone else’s January?
